3. 14:1-4 ETERNAL UNION: FORETOLD BY JESUS
a. 14:1 Let not your :heart be troubled: you believe unto :God, believe also unto me.

b. 14:2 COMFORT DERIVED: FROM CHRIST’S ASCENSION

In the house of my :Father are many abodes; if not so,

I would have told you; for I am going to prepare you a place.
c. 14:3 WE TO BE TOGETHER WITH HIM: IN JESUS’ PREPARED PLACE

And if I go and prepare you a place, I come again,

and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, YOU be also.

4. 14:5-7 JESUS AS THE WAY FORTHTOLD
a. 14:5 Thomas says to him, Lord, we do not know where you go; how do we know the way?

b. 14:6 NO WAY TO GOD BUT THROUGH CHRIST

c. 14:7 TO KNOW JESUS - IS TO KNOW THE FATHER

If you had known me, you would have known my :Father also:

henceforth you know and have seen him.
5. 14:8-14 ANSWERS TO PRAYER FORETOLD, PROVING FATHER IN SON
a. 14:8 Philip says to him, Lord, show us the Father, and it satisfies us.

c. 14:10 CHRIST ONE WITH THE FATHER

Do you not believe that I amin the Father, and the Father is in me?

the words that I say to you I speak not from myself:

but the Father abiding in me does his :works.
d. 14:11 ANOTHER WAY OF SEEING THIS

Believe me that I amin the Father, and the Father in me:

or else believe for the very works’ sake.
e. 14:12 OUR WORKS: WILL FLOW FROM THE ABOVE UNION

Amen, Amen, I say unto you, Who believes unto me, the works that I do shall HE do also;

and greater than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
f. 14:13 And whatever you shall ask in my :name, that will I do, that the Father be glorified in the Son.

NOTE: Further Insights on Preparing for the Holy Spirit: In H.A.Baker’s “Visions Beyond the Veil,” God revealed through orphans and former beggars - the reality of the New Jerusalem. After the Millennium, Heaven will come down to earth! Baker said he had little understanding of Heaven, of God, of the Book of Revelation, of Theology and much more - till this Visionary Visitation came upon these Chinese orphan and beggar children in S.W. China. Jesus, angels, relatives and friends already there - answered their questions. The answers they received and returned to earth, matched with each other in a remarkable manner.
They also matched with visions received by others at various times. Sadhu Sundar Singh was only one of these from whom Mr. Baker meticulously gathered.
Mark this also – Jesusis God’s appointed way for all of His blessings. They came through Christ and because of Him. Heis the Way, notAllah or other gods. One day at His Second Coming – and people of all nations will clearly understand this.
Lastly, in this two chapter preparation portion of Scripture, Jesus reveals the extraordinary potential of answered prayer that exists for His saints! But a disciple and a saint are conditions for those who would enter into this fruitful union. It is not by “easy believism” for non-disciples. Read again Matthew 28:18-20 to review what Jesus defines as discipleship! Let no person assume or presume! Let us make our calling and election sure! And remember – a saint is one who has experienced the “Covenantal Love” of God. It is “CHEsed,” the glue that holds believers together with God, and the glue that holds believers together in vital relationship with each other.
There are 4 Hebrew words in the OT, which if surely understood, provide a framework upon which the whole of the OT hangs; and is a key to give understanding. The first of these words is Covenant- “b'rith”; the second is Covenantal Love- “CHEsed”; the third is Peace- “ShaLOM”; and the fourth is Meditation- “ChaGAH”.
Oswald Chambers has a knack at reasoning safely in these areas. Delve into his daily one page devotional “My Utmost for His Highest.” It will challenge, but it will ensure a safe passage to heaven, with no false directives. J.A.W.
